Welcome!

Expansive soils cause billions of dollars in property damage each year. Soils with high amounts of clay particles tend to hold high amount of moisture which causes them to swell when water is absorbed and shrink when they are dried. In some cases, this movement is natural and determined by weather cycles, in other cases, the extreme movement can be a change caused by new construction, drainage or maturity in the surrounding landscape. Regardless of the root cause, Atlas Injection provides services to correct the aftereffects as well as solutions to reduce future soil shifting during the building process.

Trip Hazards, sunken concrete slabs, voids under almost any type of solid structure are standard applications for our structural foam injection process. With geo structural polyurethane, the lifting process can be completed in hours, not days with little to no disruption in the use of the concrete surface. This type of application allows you to use the area as soon as our crews have moved the injection equipment out of the way, even if that means driving or parking on the surface.

Our preconstruction solutions focus on the building site soil preparation. Soil testing provides the placidity index (PI), expansion and contraction capabilities for the soil in a specific location. Understanding the swell and shrink capabilities for a specific build site, allows our team to develop specific injection solutions to meet load baring and stability requirements for each project. In addition to reducing the shrink and swell characteristics of the soil, our services can include deep injection water barrier applications to add an additional layer of protection for the new construction.

As with many projects, there are times when we are just step in a multi-step solution. Our commercial clients have been asking for a turnkey solution and we listened. Our Atlas Commercial services group can provide concrete replacement when necessary as well as a host of additional services to included restriping the concrete after lifting or soil swell reduction process has been completed.

Atlas Injection provides wing to wing, pre to post construction soil stabilization and remedy services for builders, homeowners, commercial property owners and management  and State & Local government.

Soil Stabilization

What is soil stabilization?

In simple terms, soil stabilization significantly reduces the swell potential of expansive soil (reduces the upward movement.)  In more technical terms, soil stabilization is the process of injecting water with a chemical solution into the ground which has a two-part effect on clay filled soil.  First, the water pre-swells & evenly hydrates the clay as it distributes the chemical solution.  Secondly, the chemical solution (which is an ionexchanger) changes the clay’s electrochemical nature which weakens and minimizes the clay’s ability to both attract and bond with water.  This is achieved because the clay bonds with the chemical solution in lieu of water (hence the ion exchange).

Unlike the water/clay bond, the chemical/clay bond is permanent and will not deteriorate nor lose effectiveness over time.  Once stabilized, the soil’s Potential Vertical Rise (PVR) or swell will be limited to approximately 1 inch. Please note, a geotechnical swell test is required to verify all soil swell potential. Read More…

Void Filling

Void filling with our line structural polyurethane products provides a economical and environmentally friendly solution to prevent structure settling. Whether the void is a byproduct of natural settling under an existing slab or structure or the result of tunneling for a under slab plumbing issue, the option of refilling the void with soil will certainly result in soil settlement over time. The end result is potential damage to the surface structure. Our line of geo structural polyurethane products are designed to eliminate the natural settling of the replaced soil to prevent future problems with the above ground slab. Read more…

Concrete Raising and Leveling

Don’t replace it, Raise it. Existing concrete can settle for a variety of reasons. In many cases, the settling is simply a byproduct of natural soil settling. The new settled grade of the soil is stable , however, the concrete surfaces such as walkways, parking lots, driveways are now uneven. These settled areas can create trip hazards or survivability issue. Left unrepaired, potential trip and fall liabilities exist, as well as, potential costly removal and replacement with new concrete. Water Proofing

Underground water seepage can be challenging to correct with typical surface application. Whether the water soil is an existing water table of the byproduct of grading changes due to construction, sealing the concrete walls and joint can be a expensive an time consuming process to remove the surface water issues. Our line injectable polyurethane products are designed to deep injected behind existing concrete structure s to create a water-resistant barrier around the structure without the need to excavate the surrounding soil, install additional drainage systems or remove any existing sub-structures. Pool Flashing

Traditional pool or large inground hole flashing is done with a thin coat of Gunite. This material is spayed on around the upper edge and down the sidewalls to help prevent the walls from settling in during the early stages of the pool construction process. While the process has worked well for years, beyond the benefit of a temporary structural solution, there are no additional benefits. Our spray on polyurethane process is designed to help mitigate the potential wall collapse of the newly excavated area and provided additional benefits to the pool building and the end-user.
